In the photo, the ring features a large, clear rectangular stone, accompanied by an Arabic caption: “And may evil stay away from us, amen.” The phrase, which Rodríguez also had tattooed on her hand, only fueled further rumors.
Some online users suggested the ring was an engagement ring, while others speculated the caption referred to increased security measures surrounding the family. The couple has reportedly been facing a rise in online threats recently.
Ronaldo, 40, who scored his 933rd career goal just this week, spoke about the possibility of marriage in the Netflix docuseries about Rodríguez, saying: “I always tell her, ‘When we feel the click.’ It could be in a year, in six months, or even in a month. I’m 1,000% sure it will happen.”
The couple has been together since 2016 and currently lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with their five children—including two daughters they share: seven-year-old Alana and two-year-old Bella.
Though they have yet to marry, Ronaldo often refers to Rodríguez as his “wife.” He did so as recently as last December during the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, saying: “It’s a great honor to win this award. My eldest son is here, and my wife is here.”
Rodríguez has also addressed the pressure from friends on her reality show I Am Georgina: “They’re always joking—‘When’s the wedding?’ Ever since Jennifer Lopez’s song ‘The Ring’ came out, they haven’t stopped singing it to me. But it’s not up to me.”
