Israel’s national soccer team beat Estonia 2-1 in its opening match in Group 9 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The game, originally scheduled to take place in Israel, was held instead in Debrecen, Hungary, due to security concerns.
Estonia struck first, but an own goal by goalkeeper Karl Hein brought Israel level. Defender Eli Dasa scored the winner in the 75th minute.
On Tuesday, head coach Ran Ben Shimon’s squad will face Norway, which features star striker Erling Haaland.
