The incident occurred in October 2023 at the private medical aesthetics clinic “Klecko” in Moscow, where Lonskaya performed a blepharoplasty—an upper eyelid lift. During the procedure, she removed too much skin, leaving Boroda unable to fully close her eyes. As a result, Boroda experienced intense pain and corneal detachment, leading to near-total vision loss.
A panel of medical experts determined that a misdiagnosis, poor treatment strategy, and failure to prevent complications caused a pathological condition that resulted in permanent loss of vision and significantly reduced her ability to work—damage classified as a serious injury to health.
In an attempt to restore her eyesight, Boroda underwent four additional surgeries at a clinic in Italy. Her vision was only partially recovered—30% in one eye. Total expenses for treatment, accommodation, transportation and rehabilitation amounted to 27.6 million rubles (about $305,000), a sum she sought in court as compensation.
The court ordered Lonskaya to pay Boroda 500,000 rubles (NIS 21,500 or $5,500) in damages and barred her from practicing medicine for two and a half years.
Boroda’s attorney, Alexander Dobrovinsky, expressed satisfaction with the outcome but said he plans to file for an increase in compensation. He also reported receiving threats from a man named Yevgeny, who demanded that he drop the case against Lonskaya and warned him of consequences if he continued.
