U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said that "the 'Free Palestine' call has become a violent movement that collaborates with Hamas," at an event held in Congress to commemorate Sarah Milgram and Yaron Lishinsky, who were murdered last month outside the Jewish Museum in Washington. According to him, "This is a movement that has lost the ability to distinguish between good and evil, between light and darkness. The calls of terrorists who attacked Israel on October 7 are almost indistinguishable from those of Hamas supporters here, in our territory. They declare that violence is just, that rape is justice, and that murder is 'liberation.'" The ceremony was attended by Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, American Jewish Committee President Ted Deutsch, members of Congress and Israeli Embassy staff.
