Israel’s women’s épée fencing team claimed a prestigious bronze medal Sunday at the Under-23 European Fencing Championships, adding to the delegation’s achievements.
The road to the podium was tough: Israel opened the day with an impressive 45-34 win over Germany to reach the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, they stunned third-seeded Ukraine with a 45-38 victory.
Although they fell to Hungary 45-34 in the semifinals, the team bounced back in the bronze medal match, defeating Sweden 45-43 in a dramatic finish. The team is coached by Alexander Ivanov, alongside Maria Mazina, Doron Levit and Ohad Balva.
