Two Palestinians residing illegally in Israel and suspected of planning a terror attack were arrested Sunday evening on the Tel Aviv promenade. The arrests followed a manhunt launched earlier in the day after Shin Bet received intelligence indicating they intended to carry out an attack.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Yamam counterterrorism unit and Shin Bet. According to initial assessments, the suspects are Palestinians from Nablus and were tracked using technological means. It is not yet clear whether they were armed. The two have been transferred to Shin Bet for questioning.
Police said in a statement: “A short time ago, during a joint operation of the Israel Police and the Shin Bet, two suspects who are illegal residents were arrested in Tel Aviv. They are being transferred for further questioning.”
