An IDF spokesperson reported that last week Staff Sergeant Assaf Zamir fell and four fighters from Battalion Combat Team 53 were seriously and moderately wounded in battle in Khan Younis. Among the wounded fighters was the company commander who was injured while attempting to evacuate the force. Shortly after the incident, an Israeli Air Force aircraft eliminated some of the terrorist cell members in a quick closure of the circle. During the investigation of the incident, it was revealed that Zamir was killed by an explosive device placed by terrorists near the tank and not by anti-tank fire as initially assessed. The incident is still under investigation.
